WERNER PTA ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far for our Direct Drive Campaign.  We have raised $3,145 so far!  Our goal is to raise a total of $5,000 to purchase an additional 25 iPads for our classrooms.  We are getting so close!  Please have your donation forms turned into the office by March 15th so the PTA and school will have enough time to purchase the iPads before the end of the year.  If you have any questions, please email Juliana Schump at wernerptapresident@gmail.com.

The Werner PTA needs your help!  We are seeking a co-chair for the VP of Programs and Events.  This person would partner with our current VP of Programs and Events to act as the liaison between the PTA board and the program and event chairs to ensure smooth communication.  Programs and Events consist of Mugs with Moms, Donuts with Dads, Battle of the Books, Community Service Programs, Happy Hearts Family Night, Spirit Wear Drive, and more.  If you are interested in helping please email Juliana Schump at wernerptapresident@gmail.com.

CHOOSE TO INCLUDE OPPORTUNITY

Werner Elementary is proud to be a Special Olympics Unified Champion school, and will be participating in the “Choose to Include” Campaign the week of April 15th. The Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools program is aimed at promoting social inclusion through intentionally planned and implemented activities affecting systems-wide change. We hope to build a school climate where students with disabilities feel welcome and are routinely included in, and feel a part of all activities, opportunities and functions. Together we are creating a Unified Generation that Chooses to Include. On Monday April 15th, all students will have the option to make a Pledge to Include, by signing a banner that will be displayed in the hallway. They will then receive a bracelet that can be worn throughout the week that says “Play Unified. Live Unified”. Conversations and activities will take place throughout the week that highlight the many benefits to inclusion. In addition, t-shirts can be purchased for $11.20 (including tax and shipping) at the live store:  https://willpromo.com/socoprojectunify/shop/home They are available to be purchased until 3/31/19. If you choose to purchase a shirt, please encourage students to wear them on Friday April 19th to celebrate inclusion! We are looking forward to this fun week!
