Hi and welcome to fabulous fifth grade! I have spent most of my teaching career at Werner Elementary, having taught both 2nd and 5th grades here since 1995. I'm always excited to have the fresh start of a new classroom of learners and strive to create a welcoming and safe environment for academic, social/emotional and behavioral learning and growth for each individual each year.
My wonderful husband, Doug, and I have been married 35 years and have three amazing children: Drew, Laura, and Anna. Drew has his own business in Fort Collins, Laura is a 1st grade teacher in PSD, and Anna is a student athlete (basketball, go Rockers!) at South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City. All of our children continue to be a joy in our lives and we cherish any time we can spend with them.
I'm originally a Midwesterner, from suburban St. Louis, Missouri. I received a bachelor's degree in zoology and political science from the University of Iowa and a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Northern Colorado, after an earlier career in medical research. After a lifetime of multiple pets, I now have just one gigantic rescue dog, Lucy, who is goofy and fun. Outside of teaching, I am a voracious reader, love to knit, listen to music, take walks, hike the beautiful Colorado mountains and be on my new bicycle made by my son. On the weekends, I love to relax spending time with my family and friends, and enjoy my favorite activities and hobbies. I am positive we are going to have an absolutely fantastic year of learning, growing and having fun together!
