Smiling, caring and learning all go hand-in-hand in my first grade classroom. I call my students my First Grade Friends and I intend for us to treat each other as friends do, with respect and kindness. This is my 36th year of teaching. I taught for four years until I was hired as the team of teachers to open Werner Elementary in the fall of 1987. My profile photo is of myself, a student from last year and his dad who I taught in 4th grade the first year Werner was open! I have taught grades 3, 4, and 5 and also I spent 13 years in kindergarten and this will be my 12th in first grade. Yes, I do have a passion for kids and learning! I am married to Scott for 31 years and we have two wonderful children. Our daughter Melinda lives in Chicago (just moved there this summer) where she teaches 1st grade and our son, Lucas, is a senior at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction where he is a business major and plays on the tennis team. All four of us love to play tennis and travel! I am not a native of Colorado, but almost. I moved here in the 6th grade and went to Bauder, Blevins and Rocky Mountain High - Home of the Lobos. I love Fort Collins and Werner! The Werner teachers, administrators and staff are dedicated to providing an awesome learning environment for kids and we love all the parent volunteers that help us meet our goals.
