Registration
New and Returning Students
All new and returning K-12 students register at their neighborhood school. You can find your neighborhood school on the School Locator web page.
- Kindergarten students must be five and first-grade students must be six on or before Oct. 1. (Superintendent's Policy JEB). Learn more about kindergarten registration >>
- Returning students are students who left PSD and are returning back to a PSD school. Current PSD students do not need to re-register every year to go back to the same school.
Students wishing to attend a school outside their attendance area must submit a School Choice application.
Online Registration
Online registration is available for K-12 students registering at their neighborhood school for the 2026-27 school year beginning November 3. It is also available for families enrolling a new student in a PSD school for the remainder of this school year now. For questions regarding Online Registration, please contact the Werner office (970-488-5550).
Online registration for the 2026-27 school year will be available beginning November 3, 2025.
Please have electronic copies of these required documents to upload at the end of the online registration process:
- Proof of address (a copy of a lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility bill, etc., that shows that the parent/guardian lives at an address within school boundaries)
- Immunization record or an immunization exemption form
- Custody documents (if applicable)
Note: You may be asked to verify your date of birth in person using documentation such as a birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate, military ID, or similar. However, in accordance with Senate Bill 25-276 passed in July 2025, Poudre School District does not collect birth certificates. Information regarding electronic submission of documents is forthcoming.

School of Choice
School Choice Acceptance, Eligibility and Transportation - Click Here for complete information on the PSD Choice Process
Applications for the first round will be accepted from Nov. 3-Dec. 15.
PSD’s K-12 school choice program allows families to select the school they feel best meets their child’s educational needs. Acceptance is subject to space availability and eligibility requirements. Submitting a school choice application does not guarantee enrollment at any school applied for.
- Centennial High School and Poudre Community Academy are alternative schools that use a separate application process; therefore, the school choice application process is not applicable for these schools. Contact those schools directly for more information.
- Charter Schools operate independently from PSD and have their own school choice process. Please contact the charter schools directly about school choice.
- Round-trip transportation is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian for School Choice students. For more information: District Policy JFBA Choice/Open /Enrollment | PSD Transportation website.
School Choice Timeline for 2026-27 School Year
- First-round applications open Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.
- Deadline for first round: Monday, Dec. 15, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
- Seat offers sent: Week of Jan. 4, 2026.
- Families must respond within five (5) weekdays or the seat offer will be automatically declined. Day one (1) starts on the weekday the notification is sent. Holidays and school closures still count as weekdays. Weekends do not.
Helpful Information:
- First-round applications are processed via lottery, not first-come-first-served. A priority ranking system is used in this process.
- Families may apply to multiple schools but must submit separate applications for each school for each student and cannot rank them in order of preference.
- Applying does not guarantee enrollment and acceptance depends on space availability and eligibility.
- Students who currently attend a school through School Choice do not need to reapply to continue at that school in 2026-27.
- Waitlisted students from 2025-26 must reapply for consideration in the 2026-27 school year. Applications for 2025-26 do not carry over to 2026-27.
- Updating existing school choice account: If prompted, you may need to update your student’s information before starting a new application.
A second round opens mid-January 2026 and uses a different process (based on submission time and priority ranking) – not a lottery system.
- The second round is for families who missed the first round, declined, or didn’t respond to a seat offer and wish to reapply to that school, or want to apply to more schools.
- Second-round applicants are placed on the waitlist after any first-round applicants within their applicable priority ranking. Seats are offered when space becomes available.
- If your student is waitlisted from the first round, you don’t need to reapply in the second round. They remain on the waitlist until a seat is offered or the waitlist is purged, which occurs annually.
- Visit the School Choice page for more details.
Kindergarten and School Choice
Parents/legal guardians must register students entering kindergarten at their designated neighborhood school, even if an application is pending for choice/open enrollment. Please refer to District Policy JEB for age requirements for kindergarten in PSD.
- Registering at the designated neighborhood school does not impact a pending school choice application or potential seat offers from a choice school or program.
- The online registration process for the 2026-27 school year will be available for parents/legal guardians beginning Monday, Nov. 3, to register their incoming kindergartner.
- Seat offers for the first round of School of Choice will begin during the week of January 4.
